Max Walker

Co-Founder, Creative Director

Max Walker is Creative Director and Co-Founder of Ironbark.

Max has written, directed and produced films, podcasts and docos all around the world, from Africa to Afghanistan. Over the last two decades he's has worked for a host of notable broadcasters including the ABC, BBC, SBS, Al Jazeera, and the Seven and Nine Networks in Australia, producing a host of top rating and award winners along the way.

His work has included reality-based programs such as Grand Designs Australia and Jamie’s Kitchen Australia and more serious factual programming such as Australian Story and Who Do You Think You Are.

While documentary is his first love, Max has more recently moved to drama writing and directing. In 2016 he was the first recipient of the prestigious Scripted Ink Scholarship for his film, The Peacemaker of Afghanistan. More recently he wrote, produced and directed the feature film & series pilot for the ground-breaking Afghan TV series Shereen.

With a single mother as the lead character, Shereen was an unprecedented success in Afghanistan, gaining nominations against the likes of Mr Robot and the The Night Manager at International Drama Awards.

Producing world class film and TV whatever the circumstances is what Max does, digging deeper and traveling farther than anybody else is prepared to go. His great passion is bringing to light stories that we thought we knew - but didn’t - in moving, entertaining and enriching ways.
